ðŸŒŋ Air Plant Care Guide (Tillandsia)

Welcome to your new air plants — low-maintenance, soil-free wonders that bring a touch of nature to any space. With just a bit of care, they’ll stay healthy and beautiful for years to come.

ðŸŒą When Your Plants Arrive

Your air plants have just completed their journey!

Gently unpack them and give them a good soak in room-temperature water for about 4 hours.

After soaking, place them upside down on a towel to dry naturally.

If they’ve been in transit for several days, a longer soak (up to 24 hours) can help them recover.

Don’t worry if the leaves look a little flat or dull at first — they’ll perk up once rehydrated.

You can trim any dried or damaged tips with a clean pair of scissors.

Every air plant is different — some are soft, some firm, some tall, some small.
Variations in shape, colour, and texture are all part of their charm.

ðŸŠī Display & Mounting

Air plants don’t need soil, so you can get creative with how you display them.

They can be attached to wood, rocks, shells, glass, or decorative holders — almost any surface works.

Use non-toxic glue, wire, or clear silicone to secure them, but make sure they can be removed easily for watering.

For a natural look, you can place them alongside moss, stones, or driftwood.

☀ïļ Light & Temperature

Air plants love bright, indirect light. A sunny windowsill, bright bathroom, or well-lit office is ideal.

Avoid direct, harsh sunlight for long periods, as it can dry them out.

They’re happiest in temperatures between 10°C and 32°C (50°F–90°F) — basically, the same range that’s comfortable for people.

💧 Watering

Because they don’t grow in soil, air plants absorb moisture through their leaves.

Mist them several times a week, or give them a deeper soak every couple of weeks.

  • Misting: 2–3 times per week

  • Soaking: Every 2–3 weeks for 2–3 hours

If the leaves start curling or feel dry, that’s a sign they need more water.

After soaking, shake off any excess and let them dry completely before placing them back on display.

Always let them dry upside down to prevent water from collecting at the base — this helps avoid rot.

ðŸŒļ Feeding

To keep your air plants growing strong and encourage blooming, use a bromeliad or air plant fertiliser once a month.

Dilute the fertiliser in water and mist lightly. This provides nutrients they’d normally absorb from rain and air in their natural habitat.

✂ïļ General Care

It’s normal for older leaves near the base to dry out over time.

You can gently remove them or trim the brown tips — this won’t harm the plant.

A little grooming now and then helps them stay neat and healthy.

🌞 Growth & Pups

Most air plants will bloom once in their lifetime, producing bright, colourful flowers.

After flowering, the plant will start to grow pups — baby air plants that form at the base.

When a pup reaches about one-third the size of its parent, you can gently separate it and mount it elsewhere.

Or, leave it attached to form a beautiful cluster over time.

💚 Keep Them Happy

With the right care — light, water, and airflow — your air plants will thrive.

They’re hardy, fascinating, and perfect for beginners or anyone who loves low-maintenance greenery.
